Come and discover the exceptional site of the Ochre Massif, lying between Roussillon and Provençal Colorado in the Vaucluse, thanks to the new application "Ochres by bike" for smartphones and tablets, created by the Parc naturel régional du Luberon.
Fun and accessible to all, it will guide you with ease along small, quiet roads, allowing you to discover the richness of the earth, landscapes and the Luberon’s ochre sites.
This application indicates places worthy of a stopover when you pass nearby, offering the option to explore them via various media: video, audio, texts, quizzes, games, augmented reality, etc.
It offers four bicycle routes (touring bicycles recommended) with each loop offering a different theme:
- The Roussillon Loop: 14.9 km, 2hr30. Ochre mining, underground quarries and open-cast quarries.
- The Apt Loop: 25 km, 3hr45. History of Apt from geologic to modern times.
- The Rustrel Loop: which offers a shorter option: 19 km, 2hr45 or 11 km, 2hr. In a geologists shoes: searching for the Colorado. This loop, and particularly its short version, is specially designed for families and children.
- The Caseneuve Loop: 26.8 km, 3hr45. Rocks, fossils, landscapes and men.
The Ochre Massif is a listed site: it is everyones responsibility to protect it by keeping to the paths and by leaving the ochre in its natural environment.
*Augmented reality:
Augmented reality depends on the performance of your device. If it seems to be inaccurate, check that it is not being affected by a magnetic field. Also, there are many ways in which you can calibrate your device.
*Road safety:
You are responsible for your own use of this application.
In order to prevent accidents, use this product carefully, always remain aware of what is happening around you, and ensure you have good visibility. Do not use this application while riding and obey the rules of the road.
